On Thursday night I hit a big mama milestone – I left Jem with her first non-family member so Dominic and I could go on a date. This wasn’t just any non-family member, it was Jemma’s lovely nanny! I’m heading back to work in February and we wanted Jem and her nanny to have some bonding time before I’m gone all day. All went well and I feel so blessed to have found such a great nanny to welcome into our family. It’s no small feat to take on a baby who is cloth diapered, prefers to be held 97% of the day and hates bottles. Yep, that’s my girl!
Oh, bottles. Didn’t have much luck with the Adiri bottle I had mentioned earlier. Jem’s nanny gave it a try after bath time, but she either wasn’t hungry or was being her usual bottle snob self :) I think we are going to give it a few more tries and then explore cup feeding. Does anyone have experience with that?
Transition is upon us and I’m not looking forward to it. I’ve had my fair share of tears and am now moving forward with a cheery perspective. It’s best to embrace this transition and focus on the positives. Don’t you just love how I’m trying my best to avoid a massive breakdown? Any mamas have good advice about surviving the return to work in one piece?

I don't have advice on the mom returning to work as I'm a stay at home mom. But I do have bottle advice. :) I've now had the honor to watch 2 infants when their mom's returned to work. The first baby hated bottles, much as your little one. It sounds horrible, but we worked together & after a few difficult days of crying, persistance, & small guzzles the baby was a bottle champ. It was so hard (honestly probably harder on the adults than the 3 month old), but babies have insticts to eat & she will eat, survive & thrive. If you go this route I would also recommend not coming home to feed during the day, if she smells you & has the option for boob it would probably delay her willingness to use a bottle.Lord I pray that baby Jemma will eat from a bottle & relieve her mama's stress & worry!

I don't really have any advice, but I will say that the first week is hard. There were lots of tears… mostly from me. I cried on my way out the door every day the first week. Last week was my second week away, and it was much better… no tears! Its hard, but it makes your time with her even more special! :)
