With little ones it’s not always easy to have a relaxing Mother’s Day, so, instead of longing for a spa day or time alone, I’ve given up the idea of peace and quiet and most years opt for fun and adventure! This year, we’re taking the ferry to the San Juan Islands and I can’t wait! We hiked last year on Whidbey for Mother’s Day and the weather was perfect so I’m crossing my fingers we have the same luck on the islands.
That’s our day of plan, an experience together is always my favorite gift. The kids are so sweet and usually make me something too. And then Dominic pretty much lets me choose any gift I’d like … within reason :) This year I’m pretty sure I’m going to buy new running shoes. It’s a need/want kind of gift and I’m definitely excited for some fresh cushion on my feet!
Do you have a specific wish for Mother’s Day this year? Do you know what you’re buying for your own mama?
I’ve rounded up some of my personal favorites and a handful of things on my own wish list for you to consider. Take a peek!
Skylight Photo Frame — For mom, for grandma, for your mother-in-law … this is THE gift! It’s the very best of digital frames and so simple to use. Ya’ll your Skylight gets an email address and you simply email photos to it! Perfect for home, work, or far away friends and family who want to keep in touch without the hassle of putting photos on a flash stick or printing and mailing.
Let’s Make Art Subscription Box — I love giving my mom experience gifts … and hey, I love receiving experience gifts too! Let’s Make Art has both watercolor and lettering subscription boxes available. I’ve done one of the LMA painting lessons before and it was stellar! Such a fun way to spread your artistic wings!
Prana Brush — Recently I shared all about my love for using a dry brush (read that post here)! I bet you/your mama would love it too! This is the ultimate home spa gift!
Self Watering Bulb — Is your mama a plant mama? If so, snatch this up!
Made By Mary Jewelry — If you’re looking for personalized jewelry, check out Made By Mary. I just stumbled across this shop and especially love the birth flower necklaces!
Rothys — I keep alluding to a full Rothys review, and I promise, it’s coming! But, until then, trust me that these are shoes worth investing in. If you go this route for a gift (for your mama or yourself!) be sure to use this link for $20 off, I’ll get $20 towards my next pair too :)
Allbirds — If Rothys aren’t your jam, how about Allbirds? These are the most comfortable tennies around! I adore mine! And you can try them “in the wild” as they say for 30 days to make sure they’re a good fit. Log this away as a Father’s Day gift idea too … I got Dom a pair recently and he’s a fan!
Birdling Bags — I had the opportunity to review a Birdling Weekender over at Baby Gizmo and am hands down in love with this line of bags. Depending on what size your mama needs, Birdling has it!
Perpetual Flip Calendar — Mom, if you’re reading this, I bought you one of these! I found it on clearance at Hobby Lobby, but Amazon has it too :) Doesn’t everyone want a boost of Ann Voskamp while they brush their teeth?
RTIC Tumbler — Yeti quality at the non-Yeti price. We love love love RTIC!
Sipsby Tea Box Subscription — I’ll confess, I haven’t tried this yet, but it caught my eye because my mama loves tea! If yours does too, this might be the perfect gift!
Kiehl’s Butterstick — Not all chapstick is made equal. My sister introduced me to the Kiehl’s Butterstick and it is pure heaven.
Lovely Little Lybecks Mobile Preset Collection — If you want to amp up your phone photos, nab this preset collection. Chelsea gives super straightforward directions for getting it set up and then, BOOM!, fabulous photos!
Annnnnd, I couldn’t wrap up a gift guide without a handful of books. These are my top mama nonfiction recommendations these days: It’s Not Supposed To Be This Way by Lysa Terkheurst, Off the Clock: Feel Less Busy While Getting More Done by Laura Vanderkam, and One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp.
Ok, promise this is my final note. As crazy as it sounds, my mom always buys my sisters and I a gift for Mother’s Day. She says she wouldn’t be a mom without us and somehow spins that into a reason to buy us a gift. We tell her not to year after year, but there is no stopping her! This year I’m going to follow suite though and get my kids a little something. I just ordered this for Jemma. I think she’ll love writing back and forth. And someday when the boys are writers/readers I’ll get them this version.
What is on your wish list for Mother’s Day? What are you gifting to your mama?
