Jemma’s Fall Reading List and a Giveaway!

I’ll never take credit for Jemma learning to read. Shortly after she turned 5 I casually started reviewing BOB books with her. Then, before I knew it, she was reading chapter books.

I wish there was a trick I could share, but really, it was just that. The only insight I have is that we keep lots of books in our home, she watched a ton of SuperWhy when I was pregnant with Max and surviving his early months (and learned letter sounds that way), she loves audiobooks, and she sees me reading for enjoyment often. So, yeah, definitely no secret.

Since we kicked off school in September, Jemma has been keeping a list of chapter books she has read. This doesn’t include any of the picture books she reads to her brothers or audiobooks she listens too. Just the ones she has snuggled up and read for fun. And, can I just say, I love having a little reader!

Keep in mind, even though these are the books Jemma read during her first term of kindergarten, these books are definitely more in the 2nd-4th grade level. Regardless, they’re all ones she has enjoyed and recommends!

There are currently 3 books available in the Enchantails series and 9 more to come! Each book features a mermaid and a specific realm within the world of Oceana based on a real life location. It’s a wonderful mermaid series full of excitement and the Enchantails slumber bag is the perfect place to cozy up no matter the book being read! It’s definitely Jemma’s favorite place and I can’t get over how beautifully it is made. Plus, how fun is a mermaid sleeping bag?!? I know I would have loved one when I was a little girl!

Oh Jemma. You are too cute!

Selah has been enjoying the box car children series. We started into little house and the prairie but seem to be stuck in the middle of The Farmer’s Boy. I catch her rereading Charolette’s Web for the umpteenth time. But her favorite are the Adventure in Oddyssey historical series.

These look so fun and that is exactly what we have been needing lately (so glad she found and liked the boxcar children because we were starting to miss the fun part of reading). Thank you for sharing!

Farmer Boy has definitely been slower than the others but she’s plugging away. Boxcar are a HUGE hit … we just found 3 at the library for sale bookshelf and she was THRILLED! I didn’t know Odyssey had books, will try those soon!

Wow! She’s a little bookworm. Awesome job Jemma! My kids have all recently devoured Ollie’s Odyssey by William Joyce.
