I’m back from my unofficial blog-cation … I think :)
Either way, I wanted to pop in and share a bit about Jemma’s new aversion – VEGGIES! It’s gotta be a mother’s worst nightmare to have a perfect green bean tossed back at her in disgust, but it’s happening. She’ll gladly eat a bowl of blueberries, banana slices, applesauce, and Naked mango juice, but dare I place a carrot on her plate and she’s ready for a revolt.
But today I woke up with a renewed spirit and veg-itude (that’s an attitude full of veggie power) and I knew we were going to hit a new milestone.
For the last while Jemma has been starting her mornings with a sippy of Nancy’s Kefir. The probiotics have really helped her digestion (AKA less dramatic poos). She’s enjoyed peach, blueberry, and strawberry so far. Yesterday I picked up blackberry – something she has yet to try, but with the strong flavor I figured it would be a good place to start my experiment. And, lo and behold (proof is in the picture) Miss Jemma took to her modified kefir like a champ.
Here’s what I did …
Have you tried green/healthy smoothies for your little ones? I’d love some more recipes to try out – please share!

We LOVE green smoothies around here. We go by a method I found a while back where you add a thickening fruit (e.g. bananas, mango, apple), a flavor fruit (e.g. pineapple, strawberries, orange), spinach (literally 3-4 cups) and ice. Since I have a Vitamix, we don't need to add any sort of liquid, but in a normal blender you might need to. Peanut has always loved these, even when she's going through an anti-veggie stage, which, by the way, will pass! It seems like Peanut is constantly going through a stage of absolutely hating one food or absolutely loving another food.

My daughter drinks about 6 oz a day of Bolthouse Farms Green Goodness to help get her veggies in !http://bolthouse.com/our-products/beverages/smoothies/green-goodness/detail Trust me it taste way better than it looks! My mom also makes Spinach smoothies with fresh spinach leaves, pineapple juice, and a few peppermint drops if you like (I prefer it without the peppermint).
