Day #9, #10 and #11: Letting Go of Perfection

It seems like yesterday that we found out we were expecting … now we are 20 days away. It’s crazy!

There is a lot of emotional processing that goes on in these last few days of pregnancy. Sometimes I prefer to just shut down … hence a squished version of 30 Days to Baby, three days in one :) Apparently blogging just fell off my radar (more on that later)! One of the big things I’ve been processing is letting go of perfection, because seriously, sometimes I lay awake at night and think, “What on earth will I do if we leave for the birth center and the dishes aren’t done or, heaven forbid, there is laundry still in rotation?”

I don’t have much else to say on that topic, other than I’m striving to do just that — let go of perfection. I’m going to be a good mom. Not a perfect mom. My home is going to be clean enough. Not spotless. And life will go on and we will have a grand time. True? True.

Hi Bambino(a) … Daddy completed the final get-ready thing (in his mind) this weekend – YOUR CARSEAT IS INSTALLED! We are officially ready for you! Much love and anticipation from your mama :)

The ONLY thing that you will be perfect at as a mom is that you are the PERFECT Mama for this baby, Dominic is the PERFECT Daddy for this baby…and this baby is the PERFECT BABY for you both:)And that's all that really matters!!

The day we brought our daughter home my mom told me this: "When you daughter calls you and tells you that she is having your grand child, you will think … my goodness it seems like just yesterday I was holding her for the first time, watching her sleep. You won't think how clean your house was is if the dishes were done or not… you will just want to hold that tiny baby again."I think of this every time I get in "perfect" mode.
