Five days into my 30 Days Until Baby posts. That is 1/6 of the month. Time doesn’t have breaks!
Dominic is chomping at the bit … he is ready for this baby to be here!
For example … Friday night … well, Saturday morning … 3 am. He starts patting the bed all around me. I wake up, not knowing why I woke up. Ah, yes, I need to pee. I get up, do my thing and stumble back to bed. Dominic sits up and clear as day asks me, “Did your water break?” I respond, “Are you dreaming?” He says, “No, I’m not dreaming. Just tell me, did your water break? I’m really stressing that your water is going to break … I have a fatherly sense.” I shake my head, roll over and tell him to go back to sleep. No water has broken, we are safe to go back to sleep.
When Saturday morning truly arrives I tell him about how he had some panicky dream about my water breaking. He clarifies, “It wasn’t a dream. I was convinced your water was broken. I swear that I was wide awake. I woke you up patting the bed so you would leave and go to the bathroom. When you got up I attacked your side of the bed searching for wetness. There was nothing. So then I knew it hadn’t happened yet and it was about to. I laid awake for a long time thinking about all the things I was going to need to pack. It is my fatherly sense … the baby is coming.”
So what did we do on Sunday? We packed our bags. Dominic gave up football all day and devoted his time and energy to all things baby. What a guy :)
Sidenote – Dominic is also very proud to share that our little one will be born during football AND basketball season. Apparently this is quite awesome.
Oh baby … you are a crazy bouncer this morning! Maybe you are getting ready to be born!?! That would make Daddy very happy :) I think you are planning to stay inside for a few more weeks. I can still feel your legs up in my ribs which means you are either extremely long or you have not dropped into birth position yet. Only you and God knows for sure! We have your crib all set up, a bag of sweet newborn clothes packed and Daddy is going to install your carseat into our new ride later this week. Before we know it, we’ll be a family of three! Can’t wait for your safe arrival … love you to pieces!

I can only speak of my own experience but tell Dominic, if your water breaks in bed…he will know! It is not like a little tinkle but like an Arrowhead jug just got poured out. I couldn't believe how much water there was – yikes! I can give you more details offline and spare your other readers the REAL details. :)

Hilarious!! Dominic is pretty sharp. The morning I went into labor I had to spend 20 minutes at 4 in the morning trying to convince Ricky that, yes I was in labor, and no he should not go back to sleep, and no he was not going to work that day :)

My water didn't break with you until I was well into labor…in fact, the doctor decided to break it to see if it would help things along. So, you just never know:)
