I’m real excited to share this recipe today! I’ve been playing around with pulled pork in the crockpot for awhile, trying to perfect my skill, and I finally did. It’s easy and amazing and perfect for a quick family dinner, poker night, potluck, and it’s even better as leftovers!
That Mama Gretchen’s Pulled Pork – Crockpot Style
Ingredients
2 pounds boneless pork butt
2 T Sea salt
1 T Pepper
1T Cayenne pepper
2T Garlic Powder
1 T Cumin
1/2 stick Butter
3 T Tabasco
1 1/2 C BBQ Sauce
1/4 C Frank’s Red Hot Sauce
Kaiser rolls
Directions
- Mix sea salt, pepper, cayenne, garlic powder, and cumin in small bowl
- Unwrap pork butt (leave fat on) and rub it down with your spice mixture
- Put into crockpot and fill with water so the meat is just covered
- Cook on low for 8 hours
- Use tongs to pull pork putt from crockpot and place in 9×13 casserole dish, dump water (no need to wash it though)
- Shred the pork, sorting out the fat pieces
- Add butter, BBQ sauce, Frank’s, and Tabasco to crockpot and stir
- Add shredded pork and stir
- Turn crockpot to high for 1 hour
- Serve on toasted Kaiser rolls – YUM!
Notes worth mentioning …
- We could have easily doubled the recipe, Dominic was pretty positive that leftovers were even better than the first round
- I found the boneless pork butt at Whole Foods for only $2.99/pound (regular $3.99/pound) – a great price for happy pig
- The 2 pounds made 4 hefty pulled pork sandwiches
- Macaroni or potato salad is a perfect side dish
Wish I would have remembered to take a picture, alas I was too hungry to think about photography when pulled pork was calling my name :)

I've got to try this! We have some venison chops in the freezer right now that this would be amazing with. The only ingredient we're missing– BBQ sauce! Off to the store we go!

I love finding new, easy crockpot recipes! This sounds pretty simple and something different for us since we don't eat pork very often! I'm also excited about pairing it with some potatoe salad…umm, yum! I'm definitely going to put this on next weeks menu! Thanks for sharing!!!
