I have a combination of previously owned and new diapers in a number of different brands. We’ve been blessed with many of these diapers as gifts (thank you so much to our cloth diaper supporting friends) and have scored at some killer garage sale/consigment shop deals. At first I had planned to only use the Flips, but upon my midwife’s recommendation I decided to get an assortment so we can determine what works best for baby’s bum. I’m hoping most of them do or else I’ll feel pretty wasteful :(
- Hot water only cycle to check for bubbles
- Cold soak with 1/2 cup baking soda
- Hot wash with 1/4 cup All Free Clear detergent and 1/2 cup vinegar in Downy ball
- Final hot water only cycle
- Dry inserts, pocket and all in one diapers in the dryer, air dry covers
- 4 hot wash cycles with 1/4 cup All Free Clear detergent
- Dry in the dryer between each cycle
- 1 hot wash cycle with 1/4 cup All Free Clear detergent
- Air Dry
My sweet baby will have such a cute fluffy bum!!! |
I ‘m excited and nervous to start our cloth diaper journey. I mean, it is kind of a big responsibility to undertake this investment in both money and time. But, the blessings far outweigh the hours I will spent with the washer and dryer. Yes, I’m sure of it :)
The little pink cover (above middle) fits a baby weighing 4-10 pounds. It will be one of the first we use (if we have a girl). I can hardly believe my little one is already within that weight range! CRAZY!!!

While I am really looking forward to cloth diapering, I am NOT looking forward to the prepping.
