Copycat Gretchen

Good ideas are rare. Even more, they rarely come out of no where. Mine usually come from another blog or magazine article. That’s right, Dominic … those gourmet recipes I whip up, I didn’t turn into Martha Stewart overnight … so don’t be fooled. I copied them. I copied the Martha Stewarts out there and I’m proud to admit it!

The Martha Stewart of today is from Design Mom and According to Kelly. They had this fabulous idea of reviving an old piano with a fresh coat of paint. Fresh and lively to say the least :)

This is what kicked off my good idea. You know the crib I got for a $75 steal? My biggest stress is finding other nursery furniture to match. Yes, that is the Pottery Barn in me speaking. Match, match, match. This week my focus has turned to a changing table … I have searched and searched and nothing speaks to me. Yes, I realize there are hundreds of options between Target, Babies R Us, and the internet, but if it doesn’t speak … it doesn’t speak and I can’t force myself to love something I don’t. Out of this conundrum, my good idea was born … what if I buy an old changing table or even a dresser or bookshelf from Craigslist and paint it a la above piano? WHAT IF I PAINT IT TURQUOISE? What if I paint little birds like this somewhere …

And add these knobs from Anthropologie to spice up the drawers?
Wouldn’t that be just perfect? I’m convinced it will be and am now scouring Craigslist for my perfect changing table. Wish me luck!
