Thankful

If I get too serious around the holidays I get weepy. I just feel so blessed to be where I am in life with the people who mean the most to me.

This Fall I framed a picture of Miss Jemma and tucked it in my kitchen window.
Thanksgiving 2010 – when she wasn’t even 2 months old. How does time go by SO FAST?
This picture has helped me to be thankful each day.
Thankful for our health.
The blessing of Jemma in our life.
And all the little things, like having a window to display pictures and dishes to wash.

Take a moment to note to adorable little owl from my SIL, Tasha and the succulent I haven’t killed yet

To lighten the mood and share the fun of thankfulness, here’s my Thanksgiving Top Ten …

  1. Tweezers – God only knows what I would look like without my prized Tweezerman tweezers. Thank the Lord for shaped brows and the elimination of  chin hairs.
  2. TiVo – I have no idea what days/times any of my favorite shows are on. They just appear. Like magic.
  3. Google – My dear friend, Google, has come in quite handy with alot of my recent home and work projects – How to correct sewing machine error E4? What county is Lake Tapps in? Coupon code for ___________? Foods to ease constipation? Jemma’s, not mine :)
  4. eBay – I couldn’t just say internet … too many faucets to be thankful for. I’ve done a fair share of Christmas shopping on eBay and I’ve saved SO MUCH. Second-hand is the new cool. Am I right, or am I right?
  5. White Chocolate Peppermint Creamer – Who needs Starbucks when you can have deliciousness at home in your jammies? Technically, I still need Starbucks – decaf eggnog to be exact – but I’m forcing myself to be a penny pincher and Starbucks costs too many pennies.
  6. Crockpot – Holla!!! Whoever invented crockpots deserves a major award. I think crockpots are right up there with the dishwasher and washing machine/dryer. A pot that cooks dinner for you? It’s pure heaven for every homemaker!
  7. Sesame Street – I’d like to think I’m super perfect and never let Jemma watch TV, but it ain’t true. A few times a week I park that child in front of the TV and ask Mr. TiVo (see #2) to play an episode of Sesame. Peace and quiet with occasional giggles from Jemma does a mama’s heart good. Plus, Sesame isn’t even on my radar of “annoying children’s shows” – it’s too classic.
  8. Sisters – This one is kind of serious. I love my sissies to death. But lately, I love them the most because they are giving me all their hand me down clothes! Hannah just sent me a pair of Gap and Blue Cult jeans. Now I finally have a pair of pants that don’t require a belt. Amen to that. I don’t think I’ve mentioned that post pregnancy/breastfeeding made me wither away – I’m way tinier, albeit, squishier, than I used to be. This has presented quite a problem in the clothing department which is why hand me downs have become quite necessarily.
  9. Pandora – I know, back to the whole internet thing. Truly though, who buys CDs anymore? Pandora, especially my Matt Nathanson station, has made the perfect soundtrack to my days at home.
  10. Naps – I’ve given up on Jemma napping by herself. She’s in a phase where she will sleep like an angel if I’m next to her which means I either get to take a nap or work on the laptop while she sleeps twice each day. It’s been so good to have a set time to stop buzzing around the house and relax or work without distractions. Naps + Mama + Jemma = AWESOME!

What’s one thing you’re thankful for this year?
