Last night Dominic and I ventured to …
Throughout the last week we have managed to put together quite the shopping list of random things needed for the new house. After wandering for a good hour (while making a wish list for our next trip) we gathered up all the essentials … and a few extras :)
- Bedroom curtains
- Rug for entrance
- Garbage can
- Office chair mat
- Tealights
- Floor protector foam pads for the furniture that is on hard wood
- Baby bibs
- 2 end tables (only $8 a piece)
The new house doesn’t have blinds (which I find very weird) so the curtains are pretty heavy duty thick ones to keep out the light. They are a fabulous, modern leaf print – green, brown, white, and black. Ikea doesn’t have a picture of the curtains on the website so you’ll just have to wait for the final picture of how things get set up. Which leads to the latest with the nursery …
After much deliberation we have decided to split our 2 bedrooms into zones. Rather than having our room and a nursery we are going to have a sleeping room and an activity room. This means the crib will be moving into the master and Dominic’s desk will be moving into what we formerly considered the nursery. I felt the second room was too large to just have as a nursery and Dominic really needs a work space for bills and such. So, Dominic is starting the migration of furniture today … crib will be centered under the master window and we’re searching for a changing table/dresser combo to tuck in the corner. His desk (which is L-shaped) is going to the activity room where we also plan to set up a baby play area with shelves for toys and a rocking chair for story time. We’ll most likely tuck my craft supplies and maybe a guest bed in there too. I’m telling you … it is a big room!
The room swap has also altered my decor scheme. Our bedspread is a honeydew green so I am going to aim for something complementary with the baby’s bedding. Ideas to follow … I found some great fabric swatches this weekend that have my creativity spinning like crazy.

Way to think outside of the box and maximize your space. Baby definitely doesn't need all of that room to itself. You would totally rock on Design Stars with this idea.
