Eons ago I shared this recipe (apparently, before you took photos of your food!). Slow cooker apple oatmeal continues to be a family favorite for us, especially around back to school time. My mama, the kiddo’s Mimi, is living with us this school year and in honor of her first day at school we had this cozy breakfast waiting for her in the slow cooker last week. It is like a Fall explosion in your mouth. And yes, that is a good thing :) Better yet, steel cut oats stick to your bones and keeps you feeling full and nourished until lunch. Enjoy!
Ingredients
- 1 or two apples, diced
- 1 cup steel cut oats
- 1 cup milk
- 4 cups water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Directions
Toss all your dry ingredients into your slow cooker, then add the wet ingredients. Pop on the lid and set your best friend to the low setting for 6 hours. Head to bed and wake up to the smell of cinnamon apples … and a hearty breakfast!
Have extra apples laying around? Last Fall, Jemma and I had a blast with this apple craft project!
