Shopping In My Pajamas

This week I ventured out solo two days in a row. Go me. Ever since we transitioned Max to his convertible car seat (Sunshine Radian for the win!) he has stopped screaming the moment his bum touches the seat. Huge sigh of relief and answer to 5 months of prayers.

The littles and I met a friend at the Children’s Museum (so much fun but sadly, so expensive – $20 for Jemma and I and I’ll have to pay another $8 when Max turns one + parking = steep!) and we hit up Costco the next day. Gotta have a sample lunch every now and again, right? But truly, two outings in two days is a phenomenon. We rarely leave home and I’m actually starting to enjoy it. Max naps in the morning, then Jem naps after lunch, and when she gets up, Max is ready for another snooze. So, to keep everyone well rested we stay home. And I shop online. Because, what better way to accomplish nap time and get what we need?
If I’ve learned anything about shopping online for basics and fun extras, because obviously I can’t always say no to a great deal when I find one, I’ve learned that there is always a coupon. Usually I can round up one for free shipping or a percentage off which makes shopping online all the more enticing.
I’m gonna bullet the rest of my thoughts because it is late and Lord knows I’m running on too little sleep. Boo hoo hoo, there’s my sad mama story for today :) So, my deal tips …
  • Etsy shop deals. Always always always “like” your favorite Etsy shop on Facebook. Those sweet shop owners are constantly sharing amazing deals on their wares.
  • Printable coupons. When you do head to the store, always check for a printable coupon. Many of these you don’t even need to print, you can just show the coupon on your phone. Most recently I used a $10 off $50 coupon on some amazing post-Christmas sales at Old Navy.
  • Costco.com & Nordstrom.com. Nothing beats free shipping and easy in-store returns.
  • Amazon/eBay price comparison. If the item is acceptable in “used” condition I always check Amazon first. If not, Amazon will still often have the best price and shipping is usually free if you spend at least $25. Extra little shout out for my Amazon affiliate link – if you access Amazon and make a purchase here I get an itsy bitsy kick back … every bit helps when I’m saving for Jemma’s preschool tuition :)
  • Store apps. Quite a few brick and mortar stores have launched apps with coupon links. My favorite is the Michaels app – gotta love saving on craft supplies!
  • Vitacost. This is THE place for deals on natural supplements.
What are your favorite ways to save money while shopping?

Oh my goodness… I wish amazon did groceries. All of them. someone in our house is napping from 10 until almost 6. Season passes are the way to go with museums. A few visits and they are way paid for and saving money.

I'm definitely contemplating the season pass … I opted not to this time visit as I'm hoarding all my spare change for furniture for the new house :)But soon, no doubt that's the cheaper option!
