What type of birthing class did you take?
What was your experience like?
Was it worth it?
We are in the midst of trying to decide which, if any, birthing class we should take. Dominic wants to be pretty involved so I am leaning towards taking something so we can figure out what we are doing. I’m in it for more of the social event (my mom met one of her best friends in her birthing class with me). Dom insists he is going to be the “catcher” and announce the gender of the baby on :) So, I figure we should get some practice plays down before the real catching event!

take a birth class!! definitely. john and i took one together when i was pregnant with guthrie and we're still friends with people in the class. and then i took one more by myself this last time that was 1/3 yoga, 1/3 education, 1/3 self-hypnosis and it was awesome. i'd say if you're going for the birthing center experience, etc. then take a non-hospital class. the one i took with guthrie was with a birthworks teacher and it was awesome. do some research – duh – and find one that fits with what your finding your birth philosophy to be. no matter what it's just wonderful to be in a space with other pregnant women.
I just started a Birthing From Within class. So far, so good. I have many friends who have taken it and it was highly recommended. It is geared more towards natural births, pain coping, and birth art. A bit granola really which fits me perfectly
