Rockin’ Green Review & Giveaway

I have been cloth diapering Jemma for a little over 4 months now. It has been a great experience thus far. All except for some sneaky stink we ran into around month 2 and 3.

Here’s some of the back story …

When we moved in June 2010 we sold our trusty old washer and dryer on Craigslist. Our new place included a beautiful front loading set and I was beyond excited. Front loaders are every aspiring wife/mothers dream. Front loaders equate to a certain level of homemaking success.

Until you try to mix in cloth diapering.

You see, front loading washing machines are not very cloth diaper friendly. One of their best features is the water saving ability. But, with cloth diapers you want water and you want lots. Water helps to rinse and agitate super absorbent materials like cloth diapers.

Round about January I was in a cloth diaper funk. My dipes stunk and I kind of wanted to give up. No matter how many times I washed and rinsed there was a lingering stench. I tried adding a wet towel (to trick the washer into thinking the load was larger, thus requiring more water), adding water through the detergent spot, new detergent and adding in an extra rinse cycle. Finally, I decided to strip everything and start fresh. I was going to beat the stink!

I had heard about the greatness of a detergent called Rockin’ Green. It was a little more expensive than I wanted for cloth diaper soap which is why I hadn’t tried it in the beginning. But, let me tell you … IT IS WORTH IT! The stench which plagued our fluff stash is gone and I’ll never stray from my Rockin’ Green love. Rockin’ Green … well, it ROCKS :)

Washing note: I do have to strip our dipes more often than most and on occasion I let our dipes go through an extra rinse, but overall Rockin’ Green gave me the cleansing power to continue cloth diapering. I’m also anxiously awaiting the purchase of a top loading washing. Thank heavens our front loader is linked to our rental and we didn’t splurge on them! Top loaders are the way to go for cloth diapering families. But, if you are like me and in a front loader pickle, Rockin’ Green has a great troubleshooting FAQ.
Rockin’ Green sent me 3 scent samples to test, but let it be known I’ve already bought a large bag of my own since this is our forever cloth diaper detergent. Not only does it work, but it’s free of dyes, enzymes, whiteners, brighteners, phosphates, animal by-products and it’s biodegradable. My favorite scent is the Lavender Mint Revival – it smells AMAZING!
After reading all this fabulousness about curing diaper stink and such I’m sure you’re already heading out the door to buy yourself some Rockin’ Green, but wait a short minute and enter our giveaway. You could win a 45/90 load bag of detergent in your choice of scent/formula. Thanks Rockin’ Green for creating such a great product and for sponsoring the giveaway!
