These days we are never short of sweet pictures of Jemma. But family pictures … they seem to be few and far between! I’m trying to do a better job of snapping pictures of all three of us so we have memories of being together :)
This one is my new favorite. We were steppin’ out for a dear friend’s wedding and got ourselves all coordinated. The only new piece was my dress – a maxi from H&M that I scored for only $12.90! I ADORE H&M, especially their kid’s section. It’s a good thing the closest one to me is a good 30 minute drive. I have to be intentional about driving there. If I could just pop in every once in awhile I would need to get a second job!
That’s the thing. I don’t need anything new, none of us do. We’re striving to cut back our consumerism and embrace what we have. Because really, it’s the simple things in life that are most rewarding. Hence, the rest of our outfits were all closet vintage pieces.
I’m really a shopper at heart so this whole – buy less, save more, remix what you’ve got – is an exercise is willpower for me. Here’s how I’ve survived:

Closet clean out – I’ve gotten my closet down to pretty bare bones. I consigned lots of clothes that didn’t fit my current size or style and I moved maternity clothes to the garage for the next go around. Now I can see what I have without having a meltdown of “This doesn’t fit!” and “This is from college!” and “This is just awful how did it ever find a home in my closet!”

Found a style buddy – My good friend Leah and I swap a bag of clothes/acessories whenever we get together. A new-to-me piece here and there gives my style a boost. Today I planned my outfit around one of her scarves and I feel like I have a whole new outfit on! Sisters are also priceless when it comes to style buddies, I borrowed/plan to keep a new top and skirt from my sissy when I helped her move out of her college house.

Ask 3 questions – Everything I need/want has to fit into a few categories 1) Can I wear it to work and at home? 2) Is it season-less? 3) Does it fit into my budget?
