Day #19 – Before the Sun

12 days to go! WE ARE ALMOST IN SINGLE DIGITS!!! 30 Days to Baby marches on …

Looking back, alot of these 30 Days to Baby posts have been about Dominic. And you know what, this is another one! So much of my becoming a mama is tied to Dominic becoming a dad. If anything, his constant love and support has made my pregnancy a cake walk. I can’t/couldn’t do it without him.

We both had a fitful night of sleep. I was up and down to the bathroom too many times and we were both warm from this odd summer weather that is hanging on. After nights like that, no one wants to get out of bed and start the day. But that is what makes Dominic and I so different. Instead of wallowing in bed “a la Gretchen”, he got up before his alarm, before the sun was truly up and started getting ready for the day. An hour before he normally leaves for work he was ready to head out the door – seemingly chipper and motivated to embrace Monday. But that’s not the best part. Before he left, he knelt beside our bed, rubbed my back and prayed for me and our baby. He prayed that I would get lots of rest, that our baby would grow big and strong and that I would have the strength to make it through my last few days at work. It was priceless and I’ll hold on to that prayer all day … all week. The power and blessing that a praying husband brings is irreplaceable.

Little moments like this make me excited to become a mama. God has blessed me with the best parenting partner. Dominic is leading our family in the ways of the Lord each and every day. That takes alot of worry and stress away from this mama’s already emotional mind and heart. I love you, Dominic and our little one does too!

Blessed baby … I know I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again. We are extraordinarily blessed to have your Daddy in our life. I am sure there are many days when he wishes he could relax and watch TV or focus on “guy things”. But you know what he does instead? He spends time with us – helping with dishes and laundry, hanging pictures in your sweet nursery and going to work to provide for us. He is stellar and you are going to love him like crazy … just like I do :)

That is so sweet! Enjoy those sweet quiet moments alone with him while you can, because soon there will be a little person in between you all the time!
