A Murder Mystery Dinner Date

Dominic and I are blessed to sneak out for regular dates quite often. My mom lives with us and my sister just 10 minutes away so we practically always have babysitters available. It’s truly wonderful!

Our regular date nights tend to consist of dinner out, maybe a walk or a movie, but for our anniversary, we like to amp things up a bit and try something new. Two years ago we went kayaking  for our adventure and this year we attended a murder mystery dinner!

9th anniversary

Our murder mystery dinner, Best Laid Plans, was coordinated through The Murder Mystery Co. of Seattle and we had a wonderful time investigating our fellow guests while sipping on cocktails and eating dinner at The Old Spaghetti Factory.

If you’ve yet to experience a murder mystery dinner, I highly recommend it! The Murder Mystery Co. set the stage beautifully with costumes, accents, and storyline details from the very beginning. Our particular event was an Old Hollywood theme so The Old Spaghetti Factory location was the perfect place. It truly felt like we were at a 1930s dinner party!

Upon arrival we had our photos taken with fun props and were then seated. We didn’t know anyone else at the dinner, but made acquittances with our table mates quickly. We sipped drinks and enjoyed appetizers while wrapping our minds around the premise of the impending murder. A guidebook at our table led the way while the murder mystery actors visited each table sharing details and growing the story.  IMG_5325

During the investigation time we visited other tables (each table has details about specific characters and extra clues) to gather information about the murder. Dinner was served and then Dominic and I were called to the front to help reenact a potential murder scenario!

Now, Dominic has a theater history, like, he played Earnest in The Importance of Being Earnest, but my acting stopped at Princess #3 during freshman year. So, you can guess how our reenactment went! Dominic had the crowd laughing in no time while I longingly looked at my spaghetti dinner that was waiting for my return.

As more and more clues were revealed another investigation time occurred. Then, as we enjoyed The Old Spaghetti Factory’s famous spumoni ice cream our table joined forces to solve the mystery. We submitted our answer, which sadly, was wrong, but still, the fun was in the experience!

Dominic and I totally think we’ll participate in another murder mystery event, maybe even host one! I think it would be so fun to do with a church group, a birthday party, or just a fun night with friends. The Murder Mystery Co. hosts public events (like the one we attended at a restaurant) as well as private ones so you can join in with whatever fits you best!

Check out all the details here and thanks to The Murder Mystery Co., you’re welcome to use promo code TMG2016 for 50% off your murder mystery experience! So, if you have an anniversary (or birthday or anything else worthy of a little fun and celebration) coming up, looks like you’re date planning is complete!

Dominic and I received complimentary tickets from The Murder Mystery Co. which included dinner and murderous fun! We treated ourselves to anniversary cocktails … after all, we’ve made it through 9 years of marriage! That deserves a toast for sure!
