Why Snail Mail Matters + a Fun Giveaway

Does it brighten your day when something other than a bill or junk mail arrives in your mailbox? I’m venturing to guess, yes! Everyone loves a card in the mail. Especially if it’s an extra special one. Something like this

Forever I’ve been a fan of snail mail. As long as I can remember I’ve had a stash of notecards at home and over the years I’ve probably spent a fortune on postage sending letters and cards back and forth with family, friends, and pen pals that I only dream of meeting in person someday. To me, the small cost of sending some love and thoughtfulness in the mail is worth every penny. And that’s why I’m teaching Jemma all the joys of snail mail these days.

As a family we track birthdays and Jem has her very own pen pal that she keeps up with. Spring in particular is full of birthdays for our family and friends, so this week Jemma and I got a jump start on sending off some fun Hallmark song cards! Have you seen these? They’re fabulous and oh so fun!

This may have been Jemma’s first experience with a song card, she could hardly believe A CARD WAS SINGING! How??? Ohmygoodness! How exciting!

So, why send snail mail over a quick text or email? Because, it’s fun! Snail mail also shows that you’ve planned ahead. It beats bills in the mail, of course, and brings a smile to someone you love. Totally worth it in my book! Plus, Jemma doesn’t have a phone to text or a computer to email so for her to communicate with others, she’s all about writing a message, drawing a picture, and popping it in the mailbox.

There’s really nothing like the charming honest of snail mail. It’s so ridiculously personal. These days it’s all too easy to send an e-card with fancy graphics and GIFS.

I’m so glad you wrote this post — I’ve been silently crusading to keep the handwritten note alive all my life!
