Adventures at Wild Waves

We live and breathe by the school calendar around here since two of my family members are teachers. So,  mid-June marked the beginning of summer around here. We kicked off the season of freedom, fun and family with a trip to Wild Waves Theme Park which is a hour freeway journey from our home in the Pacific Northwest.

I was unsure how much Jemma would be able to participate in ride-wise, but I was pleasantly surprised that at 2 1/2 years and almost 40 inches there was so much she could do alone and with a buddy.

I hadn’t been to Wild Waves since a field trip in 8th grade and my memory consisted of riding the Wild Thing roller coaster as many times as possible :) This trip allowed a lot more exploration and truly Wild Waves has something for the entire family. A lovely section of kid and family friendly carnival rides, thrill options for the daredevils and a great selection of water fun. When we asked Jemma what she wanted to do next she’d chant, “Boats, cars, horses!” and so, that’s exactly what we did …

The blue boat … every time

“Choo choo, here we come!”

Such a brave girl enjoying such a big ride

After a morning of rides we picnicked in the car and then changed into swimsuits for a little splashing in the water park section. This was about the time the clouds rolled in … the rain … but definitely not warm. Jem gave Hook’s Lagoon a noble try before declaring it too “winny cold” (which translates to “windy cold”) so we changed again and went on a second round of all her favorite rides and a few new ones.

Pacific Northwesterners aren’t phased by dreary weather – 60 degrees equates to perfect outdoor weather!

Pops and Aunt Hannah took a spin on the Wild Thing! Two thumbs up!

When Jem steered her airplane up I darn near had a heart attack – my baby! flying!

Katie and I are kind of obsessed with Dippin’ Dots, especially the banana split flavor

Someone’s feet got a little tired by the end of the day

Overall, Wild Waves Theme Park fulfilled my hopes and dreams of a wonderful family fun day. Jemma was thrilled with her first ever theme park experience and I loved that it was just a hop and a skip up the freeway.
