Up, Up, & Away … It’s Moving Day!

I don’t think I ever gave our move a complete post.
Now, moving day is upon us.

It all started back in April. That’s when we purchased property to build. Then, Dominic was promoted to a Regional Account Manager at the building supply company he works for – his new territory encompasses all of Western Washington. Most of his clients are in the greater Seattle area so this spring he has been working at least 3 days each week away from home, spending the nights in hotels or at my parent’s house. Lame sauce.

Our original plan was to move in early fall when our new house was complete. But, as my pregnancy progressed and Dominic was away more and more we started thinking about making a move sooner rather than later.

My parents graciously offered us their spare room for the summer/fall so we started making plans to move north in May! I had a burst of second trimester energy and packed our house like a champ; dividing everything by its’ summer destination – my parents or our storage unit. Not the easiest thing to think ahead to what we’ll need when and where and why! Eeeek! Hopefully nothing we really need gets tucked too deep into storage!

I also made the transition from my beloved Andaluz Birth Center. It was so bittersweet to begin the search for a new midwife. Thankfully, I found one … just one … who accepts my insurance, has an opening in August, and has privileges at birth center. More on my new birth team and location soon! You’d think that being in the Northwest there would be an abundance of options, but that’s just not the case! Everyone was already booked or they weren’t connected with a birth center. I’d consider a home birth for little man, but I’d rather it be our own home. So, I’ll be saving that for #3 :)

As of today, we’re almost all the way moved into my parents. Nothing is set up or really organized yet. But, we’ll get there.

This Saturday is the official move day where we’ll pack the furniture and boxes headed to storage. I’m excited to have this leg of our moving/building journey complete. Living from boxes and suitcases with a toddler isn’t the easiest thing I’ve ever done.

Jemma has been a such a trooper through the transition. I’m sure she is wondering where we actually live since we’ve been bouncing around for a month now. There is quite a bit to love about my parent’s house though. She has a sprawling backyard to run around in and she has unofficially adopted Aunt Hannie’s dog, Riley, as her own. She has even started signing “dog” even though she can say it and make a dog sound. It’s all Riley, all the time! Hopefully she is as smitten with her brother!

Did I mention that both my sisters are home for the summer too? It’s gonna be a full house with my parents, Dominic and I, Katie, Hannah, Jemma, and then brother!

I find that in the midst of pregnancy is when most people decide to move! We actually put an offer on a house near by recently and then thought, what are we doing?!?! The timing just wasn't right! However, we still have a list of upgrades and to do on our current house before our baby comes…so it seems equivalent to moving! lol

I agree with your other commenter! We just made a huge move from WI to MT, and I am 23 weeks pregnant! There were many moments I wondered what we were doing! :) Good luck moving! Sounds like you are doing great with it all!

Thanks! I'm excited! It has already been fun so I know the summer (once my mom and sister are out of school … they are both teachers), it will get even better!

Even though I'm sad you're moving I'm excited for you too. So many awesome changes. I admire you're willingness to do all this while pregnant and I know that God is blessing your little family in amazing ways. That will be great to have some many helping arms around once the little guy arrives. :)

Ah … thanks Megan! I'm excited for all that is coming too, but we'll definitely be missing our old town too :(
