Wear Babies, Change Lives.
That’s the motto of Umi Sling, a small business started by one of my dear friends.
Now, before you scroll down please take a moment to read this post for the history behind Project Baby Bilum. Project Baby Bilum inspired Umi Sling’s mission and understanding this project will help put many pieces together.

This is the little intermission while you’re reading about sweet Umi and life in Papua New Guinea. This is where your jaw literally drops as you realize how fortunate we are. This is where you say, “count me in”.

So, Umi Sling, the amazing shop that was born out of Megan’s desire to put hands and feet to Project Bilum. For every ring sling purchased, one is set aside for the mama’s of Bamio. In late February, Megan will be shipping a package of Umi Slings to Adriel and then in March, Adriel will be traveling back to Papua New Guinea to equip Bamio’s mamas with ring slings that will literally save lives.
For $55 …
you can purchase an Umi Sling for yourself and as a “get one, give one” deal a second sling will be mailed on your behalf to Australia and then delivered to a mama baby duo in Bamio through Project Baby Bilum
For $25 …
you can fund a sling that will follow the same path as above: Portland —> Australia —> Bamio, Papua New Guinea —> Baby Umi (and her mama) and many others like her
A little shout out for ring slings in general. Ring slings are one of the most versatile babywearing pieces. Wouldn’t you agree? I absolutely adore mine. They adjust from person to person/baby to baby and the “tail” offers a perfect wrap of warmth or a handy nursing cover. Ring slings are my preferred babywearing option around the house because they are easy to pop baby in, snug up one without help and buzz about my day. Then again, ring slings are great for out and about too because they are lightweight and can be easily rolled or folded. Extra perk specific to Umi Slings is that they are made from 100% organic cotton and have a gorgeous accent chevron or this pretty print on the “tail”.

And now, a little style file of Max and I rockin’ our Umi Sling!
Max was all smiles as we strolled downtown the other week. After a marathon visit to Jemma’s favorite toy store he even laid his head down on my shoulder for a little cat nap. Love that boy!
A downtown stroll … Max’s hat, homemade by a friend | tank & scarf, Target | button-up, Urban Outfitters | leggings, Hue from Nordstrom | rain boots, Hunter from Nordstrom | ring sling, c/o Umi Sling
Yes, it’s true, by the last photo I had pulled my hair into a messy bun. Max has reached the “grab and pull” stage and I have lost one too many clumps of hair recently. He has got quite the grip! Which will make his grandfather quite proud as I hear a solid grip is essential to a good golf game.
Megan doesn’t want Max and I to be the only Umi Sling duo out there, so she’s giving an Umi Sling to one of you lovelies! Happy day! To enter the giveaway, please leave your email address in the comments and we’ll add you to the Umi Sling newsletter list. Enter by 2/8!
Last but not least, take a moment to visit Megan’s sweet blog – she has twin darlings! – and share about Umi Sling and Project Baby Bilum on Facebook or Twitter. You can even use #umisling and #projectbabybilum on Twitter and Instagram! Together we can fill a corner of that ship from Australia to Papua New Guinea with ring slings and make an enormous difference in the lives of mamas across the Pacific. Are you in?
