Hiker of the Year

For Mother’s Day we met up with JanMom and MarlonDad for church and lunch … afterwards we rallied at the Lacamas Creek Trail Head for a Morris Clan walk/hike.

As we all know, I am not an outdoorsy girl. It was rough to don my hiking gear (AKA – the only pair of shorts I could button) and get pumped up about an afternoon with bugs. I almost pulled the “I’m pregnant” card, but opted to pull myself together and become Hiker of the Year.

And Hiker of the Year I was! To my surprise, I loved this trail! I loved walking and talking with the occasional huff and puff as we went uphill. I loved the perfect day … warm, good company, a slight breeze, and pregnant lady sympathy :) Dominic even packed his “Dad pack” with water and snacks for me! We ended up being out on the trail for close to 3 hours and I’m already looking forward to our next outing. Who knows … I may have just found a new hobby. Dom would be thrilled if I got the hiking bug – he loves a good sweat and all the baby-packing dads on the trail got him itching for our little one to be born. Sidenote – I will NEVER progress beyond a light hike … no overnights and everything we need must fit in Dom’s pack. I’m not carrying weights (like a backpack) out in the wilderness.

As we drove away, Dom told me he was amazed that I survived as long as I did. Then, he rewarded me with YoCream. He knows me too well :)
